About Jo

Welcomed with a friendly aloha smile and loving kindness, Jo's clients are reminded of a clean, safe environment as they enter into an Awakening Heart therapy room. When stress and frustration are no longer an option, Jo provides an alternative holistic healing choice for you.  Her nourishing hands and gentle voice encourage you to feel the difference, asking you to open your heart and listen to what your body is saying.  Taking a deep breath and allowing the stresses to melt away feels extremely natural during Jo's sessions.  Approximately a half hour into the session, while the body begins to heal itself, several of her clients report they briefly fall asleep.  Her intension is designed to accelerate the body's own natural cleansing process and to assist the body's natural purging action of unwanted toxicity.  For 3 or more days after a detoxification session with Jo, her clients express a feeling of rejuvenation and increased levels of energy when they go about their day.  As a result, her clients look forward to continuing regular monthly treatments and look forward to feeling much better than before they came.

  My Background

  My Training---My first entry into the field of alternative holistic healing practices was purely accidental.  A friend of mine suggested I have a Foot Reflexology treatment.  At the time, I had never heard of Reflexology but wanted to try it.  It worked.  I became enthusiastic; went for more treatments and eventually registered for a 6 month training course to become a Certified Reflexologist and later a Registered Reflexology Therapist.  I never looked back.  With no regrets, I started a new career as a holistic practitioner and searched for a place to work.  In 1999 my husband and I sold our house in 10 days, moved to Gabriola Island , BC and I opened my first private practice, sharing an office space with a RMT.  I loved the new experience of being able to help others holistically and feel it's my life's purpose. 

At University, I studied Sociology, Archaeology, and Anthropology, achieving a BA degree in Physical Anthropology.  I worked for awhile in unrelated fields, but since high school my interest in health and wellness never wavered.  Once I opened my private practice in holistic treatments, I continued to educate myself in other holistic modalities; such as, my Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage training I obtained with Huna Masters in Hawaii and the Platinum Energy Systems Foot Bath.

My Life now, since 2006.....Living in Salmon Arm close to the lovely Shuswap Lake in North Okanagan, BC, I quickly made friends with like-minded people, volunteered in the community, joined an exercise club in both Yoga and Pilates and belonged to the Shuswap Women In Business network.  Then in March 2010, I expaned my horizons, moved to White Rock BC. and am excited to be a faculty member at Awakening Heart Wellness Centre.  Happy I can help others, honor their needs, plus empathize with them from my own health issues, I feel that I am in the right place at the right time in my life.

My Philosophy

 Compassion, loving kindness, gratitude and forgiveness (Ho'opono pono) changes lives. When one is harmed we all are hurt, but when one is helped I believe the world is a better place to live.  I think we are all interconnected with each other so when one is helped we are creating abundance, joy, harmony, peace, calm and tranquility within us all.  Our duty is take care of one another's needs, wants and feelings.
