Reflexology

REFLEXOLOGY is a very gentle, well known form of body meridian work.  It aims to relieve the physical, emotional and spiritual “blockages”.  Practitioners work with the reflex systems, the 5 essential body parts, glands and organs and the body's meridians to clear and restore the body, returning it to its ability to function properly facilitating much of the body's own natural healing capacity without adverse side effects.

REFLEXOLOGY is more than a foot massage.  It is acupressure applied to the feet, hands or ears.  Tenderness in the body is blocked negative energy, causing stress.  The Reflexologist uses strong thumbs and fingers on the toes and soles of the feet to release toxins, relieve pain, reduce stress, improve blood circulation, and restore the body's natural healing power to its proper balance.  Reflexology works.

REFLEXOLOGY is for everyone, from the very young to the elderly.  A session may vary in some cases, but it usually lasts 60 minutes,.  Appointments are usually bi-weekly for chronic pain, then for 4-8 weeks; and gradually decreasing after that to one appointment bi-monthly for a preventive health care.

REFLEXOLOGY is a complementary therapy, which works on the hands, feet or ears to help heal the whole person not the symptoms.  A Reflexologist does not diagnose diseases, prescribe drugs, treat for a specific condition, nor use any machines or instruments.

BENEFITS

Although the Reflexologist doesn't treat a single condition but uses pressure-point techniques on the Acupuncture Meridians to treat the whole person, a Reflexologist applies pressure to the head and neck reflexes, the shoulder and chest, the stomach and abdomen, and the lower body reflexes.

After treating the whole area, a Reflexologist will revisit the sites that showed some tenderness during treatment and the Practitioner will then retreat those reflex points until the tenderness has decreased sensitivity.

Reflexology helps relieve:
Neck, shoulder, knee, back pain
PMS, cramps, menopause
Diarrhoea, constipation,
Haemorrhoids, sciatica
Asthma, sinusitis, allergies
Headaches, migraines, tinnitus, insomnia, whiplash
Upper respiratory problems such as colds and flu
Anything ending in “itis”, such as Gastritis, Arthritis or Bronchitis

TREATMENT

Every now and then, a little touch is good in our lives.  The client who is fully clothed, beneath a blanket, reclining in a chair, during a 60 minute treatment, may drift into nirvana, listening to soft, soothing CD's on the stereo; while the Reflexologist touches the acupressure points on your bare feet, beginning with the right foot and then the left foot.

Improves Circulation:  The Reflexologist uses strong thumbs and fingers on the toes and soles of the feet to release toxins, relieve pain, reduce stress, improve circulation, and restores the body's natural healing power to its proper balance.

When the body's meridians become blocked, there is tension in the neck or legs, or stomach cramps in the digestive system.  A person may become frustrated or angry.  This is not normal in a healthy person.  Reflexology relieves the achy tension and tiredness.

As your energy refuels itself, your circulation flows from toe tip to fingertip to the tip of the brain.  Your body's parts, glands and organs begin to repair themselves.

After a treatment, you may feel calm and relaxed or you may feel energized and rejuvenated.

How often and how many Reflexology treatments are necessary?

This varies greatly, depending primarily on the concern and condition of the client. If the concern is acute, one to three Reflexology treatments, as soon as possible, are often sufficient to resolve the pain and improve flexibility. If the problem is chronic, one treatment every 7 days, every 14 days, or monthly schedule may be advised.

If the client's primary concern is maintenance of health and prevention of illness, I like to suggest treatments on a monthly basis. Over 50% of my clientele come every 3, 4, or 6 weeks for maintenance and preventative treatment.
